Claude monitoring
What does Claude say about your brand?
Anthropic's Claude is used by millions for research, analysis, and purchasing decisions. Its answers carry weight — and they might not mention you.
Claude is the researcher's AI
Claude is known for thoughtful, nuanced responses. Professionals use it for market research, product comparisons, and due diligence. When a potential customer asks Claude to compare solutions in your space, the answer shapes their shortlist.
Claude runs are web-grounded: we enable Anthropic's search tool on Claude 4 and later, so Claude can look things up before answering, and we capture the sources it cites. Claude 3 and earlier predate that tool, so those runs still answer from trained knowledge and are labelled accordingly.
Claude is unusual in one respect that turns out to be useful. Its search is model-invoked: rather than searching every time, Claude decides whether it needs to look something up. So a Claude run tells you two things at once — whether you were named, and whether Claude felt it had to go and check. An answer given from memory means your brand is genuinely embedded in what the model learned. That is a different, and more durable, kind of visibility than being retrievable.
The only way to know is to test it systematically — the same prompts your customers ask, run regularly, with results tracked over time.
Why Claude monitoring matters
Different model, different answers
Claude and ChatGPT often disagree. Your brand might lead on one and be absent from the other. Multi-model monitoring reveals the full picture.
Growing enterprise adoption
Claude is increasingly adopted by enterprises and professionals. If B2B buyers use Claude for vendor research, you need to know what it tells them.
Detailed, structured responses
Claude tends to give longer, more structured comparisons, which usually means more named entities per response — useful for mapping who it treats as your peer set. Check whether the run cited sources: a peer set assembled from memory tells you about reputation, one assembled from search tells you about today's market.
Rapid model updates
Anthropic ships new Claude versions frequently. Each update can shift recommendations. Continuous monitoring catches these changes early.
Reading a Claude result correctly
Because Claude chooses whether to search, every run carries an extra signal the other models don't give you. Cross-referencing it against a always-searching model like Perplexity is where the insight is.
| What you see | What it probably means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Named, no sources cited | The strongest result available. Claude knew you without needing to look, so your brand is genuinely embedded in what it learned. | Protect it. Watch rank rather than presence, and re-check after each Claude release. |
| Named, but only after searching | You're findable rather than memorable. Your current web footprint is doing the work. | Keep the pages that earned the citation fresh, and build third-party mentions for the long game. |
| Missed, but competitors were cited from search | A live retrieval gap. Specific pages are winning the query and they aren't yours. | Go after those exact pages — get named on them, or publish something that answers the query better. |
| Missed, no search performed | Claude was confident answering without you in the picture. The hardest gap to close. | Treat as a long-term reputation problem: reviews, roundups, directories, press. |
Every run records its cited sources, so you can always tell which of these four cells a result belongs in.
How Cited Monitor tracks Claude
You write the prompts your customers actually ask. "Best project management tool for agencies", "Who are the leading UK conveyancing firms" — whatever precedes a shortlist in your market.
We send them to Claude using your Anthropic API key, with search enabled. You supply the key, you pick the model, you pay Anthropic directly at their published rates. The key is stored encrypted and isolated per team — it never sits in our provider account. Searches are capped per run so a single prompt can't run up a bill.
We extract every brand, product and organisation named. You get mention presence, rank within the answer, sentiment, and the full competitor set Claude considers to be your peers.
Runs repeat on a schedule, so you see drift. Anthropic ships new Claude versions often, and each one is retrained. A drop in Claude visibility after a model release is a signal you want within days, not at the next quarterly review.
